The Infra-Low Neurofeedback Approach - Clinical Update

Meike Wiedemann and Roxana Sasu offer an overview of the latest developments of the ILF Neurofeedback approach, with insight into the use of the new lower frequency range and the particularities of the optimization process that apply to it as well as the adaptation of training protocols from the frequency band training and the promising clinical outcomes resulted from that.

The Variability of Clinical Outcomes with Different Clinical Decisions

Dr. Roxana Sasu explores explores how varying clinical decisions impact patient outcomes. She delves into the nuances of treatment choices, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic strategies, highlighting their influence on clinical results. By examining case studies and statistical data, the presentation underscores the importance of personalized medicine and adaptive decision-making in achieving optimal patient health. It aims to provide healthcare professionals with insights into the dynamic nature of clinical practice and the critical factors that contribute to diverse patient outcomes.

Dr. rer. nat. Meike Wiedemann

Meike Wiedemann is a neurobiologist and alternative health practitioner. Since 2002 Meike Wiedemann enthusiastically runs one of the first neurofeedback practices in Stuttgart. Since 2009 she has been teaching neurofeedback for EEG Info Europe / BEE Medic and is head of the training & teaching department of BEE Medic GmbH.

Dr. Roxana Sasu
Roxana Sasu joined the clinical staff at the EEG Institute in California in 2008, working directly with Sue Othmer, earning her OMC certification. She is a member of the Advisory Board and Director of Clinical Supervision at the Neurofeedback Institute in Romania.

The Challenge of Early Childhood Trauma

Pre-verbal and early childhood trauma is physiologically encoded, which calls for a physiologically-based remedy. ILF Neurofeedback by way of Endogenous Neuromodulation lends itself to this task in that it targets the foundations of the developmental hierarchy to renormalize core regulatory function—arousal, affect, and autonomic regulation. The low frequency training targets the mechanisms that organize homeodynamics, and endogenous neuromodulation facilitates the brain’s engagement with subtle fluctuations of state to enhance its functionality.
Dr. Siegfried Othmer - online

Siegfried Othmer is one of the pioneers of advanced Neurofeedback. Since 1985 he has been engaged in the development of research-grade instrumentation for EEG feedback, and since 1987 has been involved in the research of clinical applications utilizing that instrumentation. Currently he is Chief Scientist at the EEG Institute in Woodland Hills, CA. From 1987 to 2000 he was President of EEG Spectrum, and until 2002 served as Chief Scientist of EEG Spectrum International.

Unlocking Potential: Neurofeedback Induced Cognitive Enhancements in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) stands as a formidable challenge in the realm of neurodevelopmental disorders. While traditional interventions have made strides in ameliorating some aspects of ASD, the quest for novel, non-invasive therapeutic modalities persist. The talk provides an insight into how NFB leverages the brain’s remarkable plasticity, offers a non-invasive means to modulate neural activity and potentially enhance cognitive functions.

The use of state shifts and deep states in the healing journey: A Neurofeedback and Hypnotherapy therapist’s perspective

State changes in our nervous system create a basis for a perspective shift and allow access to our core self and are therefore key to changing perception and behavior. What role does this play in therapy? Does a deep state have to be deep? What is the connection between state shifts and the activity of our central brain network activities? The talk provides insight into how we, as therapists, can understand the role of our neurofeedback tool in the overall concept of therapy.

Dr. rer.

Experiences with ILF Neurofeedback for Epilepsy

Dravet syndrome represents just one of 800 mutations contributing to epilepsy, often regarded as among the most severe. This condition arises from a defect in sodium channels, rendering all nerve cells in the brain unstable, leading to profound consequences beyond seizures. Individuals afflicted with this condition have constant spontaneous brain activity, which disrupts sleep patterns and impairs concentration. Over time, this disorder leads to the gradual loss of various functions, both motor and cognitive. Conventional medications often fall short in halting the progression of Dravet syndrome. However, through nearly daily training since dec 2019 a 4 year old girl with DS we achieved: significant reductions in seizures. More important is the reversal of the decline in motor, cognitive, and mental function, into positive development.

Experiences with ILF in Substance Abuse Cases

Dr. Henning Laugesen will talk about the correlation between mental illness and substance use disorders and how psychiatry needs to be integrated in social and therapeutic interventions. He will share from his experience in using Neurofeedback in the treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders.

Since 2010, he has been self-employed in an addiction psychiatric clinic (Misbrugspsykiatrisk Klinik). He collaborates with professionals in institutions, care homes, and substance use centers. Since 2013, he has integrated Neurofeedback into his practice and is inspiring his collaborators to use Neurofeedback for their mutual patients. Henning firmly believes that Neurofeedback complements medical and social interventions helping individuals with mental illness.
